Our Learning in Late October

The children enjoyed hearing fairy tales and fables from around the world during our Knowledge lessons. We are talking about the characters and settings of each tale as we learn about the story events.

After reading a beautiful picture book version of Red Riding Hood, the children drew pictures of the beginning, middle, and end of the tale and also made a set of puppets we can use to retell the story.

In Eureka math, we have been learning about the properties of addition and how to solve for a missing addend in a math equation.

This week we will begin our 2nd Unit of Skills literacy learning as we explore silent "e" and long vowels. The children will have a new decodable book of stories to read.

Early October Learning

We have begun learning about some of the systems of the human body and how our body systems all work together. The children are making fantastic drawings in their journals as we learn about this topic.

In CKLA Skills lessons we have begun our first decodable book called Snapshots. The children enjoy reading the stories with a partner and can answer discussion questions in writing.

In math, we are exploring different number expressions that make a specific total. We are using a specific set of colored counter disks to find ways to make a total of 6, 7, 8, and 9. The children are playing fun games along the way such as Shake Those Disks. See the pictures included here.

June has arrived!

I wanted to share some pictures of recent classroom activities as we move to the last days of school. The children continue to stay engaged...
