Welcome to a new school year!

 Dear Students and Families,

I am excited to begin a new school year and meet the children on September 3! I hope everyone had a fun-filled and relaxing summer. I have two children, a daughter who is 15 and a son who is 1o. My husband is a high school history teacher. We have a sweet calico cat named Chloe. As a family, we enjoy spending time outdoors and going on nature walks. I have enjoyed tending to my garden areas in our yard and growing some new zinnia and sunflower varieties this summer.

This fall begins my 22nd year teaching first grade at Cutler School. First grade is such a special grade to teach. The students will spend their first days of school exploring the classroom, getting to know each other, learning our new routines, and having time to play.

All classroom supplies are provided by the school. Please send your child to school each day with a water bottle-flip top lids preferred to prevent spills, a small snack, and a lunch from home, or plan to order a school lunch (free.) We have filtered water stations in the school for students to refill their water bottles during the day so please select water bottles that aren't too large because storage can be challenging. We find that a 12-16 oz size works very well.

Students will bring home a folder in their backpack each day with any important papers from school. Please check the folder each afternoon and send it back to school the next day. Dismissal changes and notes can come to school in these folders. There will be an important transportation note coming home in folders on Tuesday please complete and return by the following day.

This year I will continue with our classroom blog tradition to share our learning experiences throughout the month and foster a meaningful home and school connection. I will post our monthly learning topics and themes for each subject area along with some photos and learning updates. I am looking forward to a special and exciting school year.

Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns at c.greene@hwschools.net

Sincerely,

Mrs. Greene
